In Memory

Cathie Zackrison (Peterson)

Cathie Ann Zachrison Peterson
(November 26, 1947 - March 24, 2017)

Cathie was born in Renton, WA on November 26, 1947 to Milton and Mary Zackrison. She was the younger of two daughters and is survived by sister Nanci (Bob) Davis.  She is a graduate of Highline High School class of ’66.

Cathie was a devoted mother to her two sons, Ryan and Corey Tolmich. She was very proud of her boys and would do anything for them. They were always keeping her laughing. She is survived by her sons and her two daughters-in-law Shauna and Jenny Tolmich; and her four grandchildren Joseph, Emma, Aubrey, and Riley, and was a devoted Aunt to Angela (Mike) Humphreys and their children Mary and William. Cathie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gary Peterson (04’). They were married October 14, 1989 and had a relationship full of love and a lot of laughter.

It is no surprise to anyone who knew Cathie that she loved her family and friends with all her heart. She was a fixture on the sidelines of the soccer fields, in the stands at baseball, volleyball matches, dance recitals, plays, and on the golf course, always voicing her support for her grandkids and the whole team where she was affectionally known as “Gramma Cathie”. She loved meeting “the girls” for breakfast, playing golf whenever she could and going out of her way to do creative things for everyone she knew.

Cathie had many jobs throughout her life and tended to make lifelong friends with those she worked with. The one job she was most proud of was creating “Annie’s Attic”, a used children’s clothing store in Des Moines, WA. Her creativity, personality, and motivation helped her achieve this dream. Lastly, also a favorite, as of 2010, she was a Para-Educator at Maplewood Elementary in Renton WA. She worked in the classrooms, on the playground, in the office and cafeteria. Her love for all children, caring personality, big smile and infectious laugh will be greatly missed by her students and co-workers she made an impact on everyone who knew her and will forever be missed.

This notice breaks my heart. Although I have not seen Zack in years, she was a close, dear friend growing up and my heart and prayers are with her family and the rest of her friends.

Wow, this notice hits me hard.  So many very fond memories of Zach, especially during our crazy days at Sylvester Jr. High.  Cathy was always so much fun, full of energy and "crazy". Makes me smile just to think of Cathy and those very good old days. God bless her family.

So sorry to read of Cathie's passing. Cathie and I sat next to each other in band class at Sylvester, both playing the flute. She was a lot of fun and a caring, sweet person. My mom went to her mom's beauty shop and her sister was in my brother's class. So many memories! Loving thoughts for healing to the family.
