Richard Morrison

Richard Morrison 5/20/48-9/12/20

I found out yesterday that Dick Morrison succumbed to cancer a few months ago. He was diagnosed early in the pandemic and died on September 12th.

Richard (he used that name more in recent years) is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Jo, and sons, Matt, Greg and Doug.

Dick was Facebook friends of more than two dozen of us from the Class of '66.

Dick occasioned my very own Mandela Effect; I was (and mostly am) a thousand percent sure that Dick and I were both in Mrs. Spurgeon's first-grade class at Lake Burien in 1954-55. I repeated this yesterday, in fact, even though Dick himself disabused me of the notion not long ago, pointing out he went to Burien Heights (later he came up with a class picture from Lake Burien, but he had had a different teacher for first grade). We nonetheless were in many classes together later at Seahurst and Highline before we graduated.

One of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet, very sorry to hear about Dick (Richard) he snuk me into the Hobnobber Tavern in burien when we were under age and bought me my first beer.  Lots of fond memories with Dick and Melba McConnaghey, in high School English. Rest in peace.

Dick was a good guy.  He seemed to always treat people with care and respect. I, like many former classmates at HHS, found Dick to be a legit nice guy.
