Jon was my neighbor and friend for most of my school years. Jon was an Army helicopter pilot CW2 and served in Vietnam. I know he died in an airplane crash in December of 1976 in California. Jon was the first person I would characterize as an adrenalin junkie. Motorcycles, cars, airplanes, boats, anything that would go fast! Jon lived life at 150 miles an hour. We had many adventures together and got into our share of trouble, but he was there for his friends and family.  He was the best damn swimmer I had ever been around. We swam on the Evergreen Tennis and Country Club team together for years. He was the stud and me, well more like a dud compared to him. Michael Philips reminds me of how Jon swam.

Too many stories I can't share, but those of us who partied at the sand pits on Moray Island knew when Jon was there it was going to be fun and some form of risk taking would happen. My first motorcycle experience was with Jon.  At 16 We decided with some other guys to take a road trip to Long Beach - we just didn't tell our parents it was California. It was one hell of an adventure!

Friends like Jon can't be forgotten and some of my best school year memories were made with Jon. R.I.P. Brother
