Obituary

Susan Gayle Moran, 60, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born on January 15, 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of B. Paul & L. Burdene (Knowlton) Fisher. 

As a child Susan and her family moved to Burien, Washington and there she was raised and attended school, graduating from Highline High School with the class of 1966. After school she worked in her father's shoe repair business, eventually purchasing it from him and running the business for several years. 

Susan had married and was raising her family in the Seattle area until moving to California in the early 1970's. She returned to Seattle in 1978 and worked as a convenience store manager until moving to Skagit County in 1985. 

Susan was united in marriage to Michael Moran in 1988 in La Conner and they made their home in Concrete until moving to Burlington and then Sedro-Woolley. 

In the 1990's Susan worked as a facilitator at the Pioneer Center in Sedro-Woolley and as an in home care provider until her health forced her retirement. 

Susan in her early years, with her father, was an active rock hound and many vacations were spent looking for rocks and gems for making jewelry. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting, ceramics and crafts. 

She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Unit 5056 in Concrete of which she was past Vice President and past President and she was a former member of the American Legion Aux. in both Sedro-Woolley and Concrete. 

Susan is survived by her husband, Michael of Sedro-Woolley; two sons, Howard Scott Hollifield and his wife, Melinda of Darrington, WA and B. Christopher Tucker of Federal Way, WA; six grandchildren, Nicole, Kristine and Victoria Tucker and Joseph, Tyler and Kirsten Jo Hollifield; sister, Pamela Lambert of Algona, WA; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, B. Paul & L. Burdene Fisher.
